How to create an interview

On the dashboard home page, find the Create an interview card and click Create interview. This opens the interview creation wizard.

You have up to three options to get started:

  • Use AI magic — Generate interview questions from a job description.

  • Start from scratch — Build a custom interview by adding your own questions manually.

  • Use a template — Start from saved settings. This option appears when you have at least one saved template.

Generating an interview from a job description

If you choose Use AI magic:

  1. Paste the full job description into the text field.

  2. Click Generate interview. TalentSprout analyzes the role requirements and creates relevant interview questions.

  3. You'll move to the next steps where you can review and edit the generated questions.

This is the fastest way to create a high-quality interview. The AI considers the role title, responsibilities, and qualifications to produce targeted screening questions.

Adding job details

On the Add job details step, fill in:

  1. Job title (required) — This is what candidates see at the top of their interview page.

  2. Expand Other job details (Optional) to access:

    • Job description — Provides candidates with context about the role before they begin. Candidates will see this information.

    • Add other info — Internal context that helps the AI interviewer ask smarter follow-up questions. This is for internal notes only and helps the AI tailor the interview. Candidates do not see this.

Adding company details

On the Add company details step, you can review and adjust the company information that candidates will see. This pulls from your organization settings but can be customized per interview, including the hiring manager name.

Writing and editing questions

The Add questions step lets you build your interview question set:

  • Add up to 20 questions per interview.

  • Drag and drop to reorder questions.

  • Click any question to edit the text.

  • Expand Add evaluation criteria on any question to provide guidance that tells the AI what a strong answer looks like. This is not visible to candidates.

  • Click Generate with AI to regenerate questions from the job description at any time. You'll be asked to confirm before existing questions are replaced.

An estimated interview duration is displayed based on the number of questions (approximately 2 minutes per question).

Customizing the AI interviewer

On the Customize your interviewer step, configure how the AI conducts the interview:

  • Select AI voice — Choose from multiple voice options. Click the play button next to each to hear a sample.

  • Select languages — Choose one or more languages from 50+ supported options. If you select multiple, the candidate picks their preferred language before the interview starts.

  • Require video for this interview — Toggle on to require candidates to have their camera enabled. Toggle off for audio-only interviews.

Previewing and creating

On the Preview interview step, review everything before going live:

  1. Review the full interview configuration.

  2. Click Back to editing if you need to make changes.

  3. Click Create interview to publish. TalentSprout creates the interview and generates a unique interview link.

Sharing your interview

After creation, you'll see a success toast and land on the Share your interview instantly step with two options:

  • Copy interview link — Click Copy link to copy the direct interview URL to your clipboard and share with candidates via any channel.

  • Send via email (Recommended) — View a pre-written email template with the interview link, then click Copy email template to copy it and paste into your email client.

Click Done to go to the interview detail page.

Additional sharing options — embedding on your website and a preview link for team testing — are available from the Share button on the interview detail page after creation.

What happens next

Once published, your interview appears in the Your interviews list on your dashboard. From there you can:

  • Share the link with candidates.

  • Embed it on your website.

  • Monitor incoming candidate responses.

  • Adjust settings, evaluation criteria, or pre-screening at any time from the interview detail page.
