This article is for candidates who have been invited to take an AI interview through TalentSprout.
Before you begin
You'll need:
A computer, tablet, or smartphone with a web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge).
A working microphone (and camera if the interview requires video).
A quiet environment with stable internet.
About 10β20 minutes of uninterrupted time (the exact duration is shown before the interview begins).
Step 1: Open the interview link
Click the interview link you received from the employer (via email, message, or job listing). This opens the interview overview page in your browser.
On the overview page, you'll see:
The company name and logo.
The job title (click View job and interview details to read the full description).
An optional welcome video from the employer.
Read through this information, then click Next to proceed.
Step 2: Enter your information
You'll be asked to provide:
First name and last name
Email address
Phone number (may be optional depending on the employer's settings)
If the employer pre-filled your information, some fields may already be completed and locked (shown with a lock icon).
π‘
Note: Some interviews may skip this step entirely if the employer has chosen not to collect candidate information.
Step 3: Pre-screening (if applicable)
Some interviews include a short pre-screening step before the main conversation:
Resume upload β You may be asked to upload your resume (PDF or DOCX, up to 5 MB).
Screening questions β You may be asked to answer a few short written questions about your qualifications.
The employer uses these to confirm you meet the basic requirements for the role. If you don't pass the pre-screening, you'll see a message explaining the outcome.
Step 4: Device check
Before the interview starts, TalentSprout checks your devices:
Your browser will ask for permission to access your camera and/or microphone. Click Allow.
If the interview requires video, you'll see a preview of your camera feed.
Select the correct microphone, camera, and speaker from the dropdowns if you have multiple devices.
When everything looks good, click Start Interview.
If you have trouble with permissions, see the "Troubleshooting camera, microphone, and browser issues" article.
Step 5: The AI interview
After a short countdown, the interview begins:
An AI interviewer asks you questions conversationally, one at a time.
Speak naturally as you would in a regular interview. The AI listens, understands your response, and moves to the next question or asks a follow-up.
The interview is recorded for the employer to review later.
A timer shows the elapsed time in the top corner.
π‘
Tips for a great interview: Speak clearly and at a natural pace. Give specific examples when possible. It's okay to pause briefly to think before answering. Look at the camera if it's a video interview.
Step 6: Completion
When the interview is done:
You'll see a thank you message confirming your interview was submitted.
If the employer enabled feedback, you may see a View Results button to review your scores and AI-generated insights.
You can close the browser tab β your responses have been saved.
How long does it take?
The estimated duration is shown on the instructions screen just before the device check. Most interviews take 10β20 minutes. The AI paces the conversation, so it should finish within the stated time.
