What is integrity monitoring?
TalentSprout includes built-in integrity monitoring that runs during every interview to help detect potentially dishonest behavior. The system analyzes multiple signals throughout the interview and generates a summary report on the candidate detail page.
Integrity monitoring is enabled by default on all interviews.
What signals are monitored
TalentSprout tracks up to six types of signals (depending on available data):
Tab Activity
Detects if the candidate navigated away from the interview tab during the session. Shows the number of tab switches and total time away. Frequent tab switching could indicate the candidate was looking up answers or using external resources.
Multiple Monitors
Identifies if the candidate is using more than one monitor or display. While not inherently suspicious, it can be a factor when combined with other signals. This signal only appears when monitor detection data is available.
Facing Camera
For video interviews, checks what percentage of the interview the candidate was looking at the camera. Prolonged periods of looking away could suggest reading from notes or another screen.
Face Visible
For video interviews, checks what percentage of the interview the candidate's face was detected on camera. Low visibility may indicate the candidate moved off-screen or obscured their camera.
Response Timing
Analyzes the timing patterns of the candidate's responses, including average and maximum response time and long pauses (over 15 seconds). Unusually fast or delayed responses may indicate scripted answers or external assistance.
Response Authenticity
Evaluates whether the candidate's responses appear natural and conversational, or whether they may be AI-generated or read from a prepared script.
Understanding risk levels
The integrity report on the candidate detail page displays one of three risk levels:
No Issues Detected — All signals look normal. No concerns identified.
Review Suggested — One or more signals showed minor anomalies. Worth noting but not necessarily disqualifying.
Issues Detected — Multiple signals indicated potentially suspicious behavior. We recommend reviewing the recording and transcript carefully.
Viewing the integrity report
To see a candidate's integrity report:
Open the candidate detail page.
Find the Interview Integrity card. The overall risk level badge appears in the card header.
Click Show details to expand the full breakdown of each signal with its status (green, amber, or red indicator).
⚠️
Note: The integrity card only appears when monitoring data is available. Preview and demo interviews do not generate integrity data.
How to interpret integrity signals
Integrity signals are informational, not definitive. Consider them alongside the full picture:
A single flagged signal (e.g., one tab switch) might be explained by a notification or accidental click.
Multiple flagged signals together warrant closer review of the recording.
Use the recording and transcript to verify whether flagged behavior actually affected the quality of responses.
💡
Important: Integrity monitoring is a tool to help you make informed decisions — it should not be the sole factor in hiring or rejection decisions.
